I've been working on the introduction to my documentary, I started by using a traditional church song to get the mood going and using archive footage from different videos to convey the message.
This is the timeline plan: 0-3s 3-5s 6-15s Church Music begins Audio of voice clips talking Archive footage of clips about about Christianity Christianity 16-20s All the while the background church music has been building up to a climax just as the title is shown, in white text against a black background. Simple yet bold. Bearing in mind the documentary will be about Christianity in the UK and further look into the reduction in youth involvement with it here are some potential names:
Possible songs to use God - John Lennon My Sweet Lord - George Harrison Jeesus take the Wheel - Carrie Underwood Take me to Church - Hozier Church hymns - Most likely for intro Thine Be the Glory Whole world in his hands Amazing Grace I've been scouring the web for archive footage to include at the start of my documentary, searching for clips including voice narration about the topic of Christianity in the UK or youth. Faith Survey: UK Church membership has declined from 10.6 million in 1930 to 5.5 Million in 2010, or as a percentage of the population; from about 30% to 11.2%.
By 2013, this had declined further to 5.4 million (10.3%). If current trends continue, membership will fall to 8.4% of the population by 2025.2 Over the period 2005-2010, the major Christian denominations such as Anglican, Catholic and Presbyterian all saw falls in membership. Orthodox, Pentecostal and other new churches (Evangelical and Charismatic) on the other hand, saw an increase in membership. Oasis: Supersonic
Something I noticed in this documentary was the graphic effects and how archive images were presented, making it more interesting to look at. Before the Flood This documentary was particularly subjective with a clear idea in mind. The film only used interviews with people on the side of the producers, and neglected to interview the climate change deniers that they spoke of. When showing a group of people or brands they used an infographic "tree" to connect them all. It included many facts and statistics. |
